Letter To Parents

The Phantom Tollbooth

The Phantom Tollbooth Party

Dear Parents:

We have been reading the book, The Phantom Tollbooth, by Norton Juster. This book is filled with many interesting and different characters who are involved in a conflict over which is more important -- numbers or words. As a concluding activity, we are going to have a APhantom Tollbooth@ party and each student is asked to do several things:

1. Have his/her desk decorated with a crest of his/her own design which reflects the character s/he has chosen to appear as, as well as any other decoration indicative of the chosen character;

2. Design and wear a costume which s/he has made for the chosen character;

3. Make a lunch of either numbers or words (e.g. Jello jigglers, cookies, Alpha-Bits, etc.)

We will be viewing the movie AThe Phantom Tollbooth@ and each student will be awarded a certificate in honour of making the trip with Milo through The Phantom Tollbooth. We would like your cooperation in making this experience a highly successful one for your child.

If you have any questions, please don=t hesitate to call the school at 489-3805.

Sincerely,
