Grade 5 Music
Grade 5 music outcomes:
- to aurally identify, read and write: ti tiko ; tiko ti; synco pa; toe; tum ti
- to identify and write ti ti joined and separatly
- to perform rhythmic ostinati songs with songs using: ta; ti ti; ta rest; and synco pa
- to aurally identify and sing fa and ti
- to notate, read using the d, r, m, f, s, L, t, d' tone set in the keys of F, G, and C major.
- to play on the melodic and rhythmic instruments in the classroom songs and excercises within the range of 1 and 5 of the major scale and using the rhythms ti ti, ta, too and ta rest
- to sing simple melodic ostinati
- to clap simple rhythmic ostinati
- to handsign the major scale, ascending and descending using one hand to ascend and the other to descend.
- to identify smooth and detached sounds as legato and staccato
- to identify getting louder (crescendo) and softer (decresendo)
- to identify the 4 families of instruments of the symphony orchestra by sight and sound (timbre)
- we do not select children for elementary school choir. To do so would be to deny children the experience of rehearsal and performance.
