Canadian Exploration Report

Explorers have always been adventurous people. Their motivations vary from the desire for wealth and fame to a quest for knowledge. Some expeditions are more successful and others more dangerous, but all are interesting! Historians even question some explorer's real contribution to to the future.

The following is a brief assignment to give us the opportunity to report on early Canadian explorers.

Your assignment is to write and eventually design a multimedia presentation on one of the following famous explorers in Canadian history:

  • John Cabot
  • Martin Frobisher
  • Jacques Cartier
  • Samuel de Champlain
  • Henry Hudson

Remember...

Your focus is to gather and share information to justify this person's importance in history.

Your report should include the country that he explored for and the dates (timeline) of exploration have the following sections:

  • Reasons for voyage
  • Location of exploration
  • Interaction with Natives
  • Hardships
  • Accomplishments

 


Your report should be at least seven pages in length, including a title page, bibliography, and pictures.

Follow these steps when doing your assignment:

  1. Choose the explorer that you wish to report on.
  2. Research and answer all of your questions.  Save favorite hyperlinks if necessary.
  3. Organize your information into an outline.
  4. Write your rough copy.
  5. Edit your rough copy.
  6. Find and/or make the pictures, diagrams, or models.  Save these in your H:\ Drive
  7. Decide how you wish to organize your report.
  8. Type your good copy and bibliography using Corel Presentations
  9. Design and make your opening front slide.
  10. Put all of the requirements together to make your final product. (ie. bibliography, credits, resources...)
